UBC dirt jumps December 7th

Took a well deserved break from studying for final exams for the winter term and went out to the newly refurbished UBC dirt jumps with Pat, Joe, and Aaron. The jumps were a bit wet but after a few minutes of touching them up before and after the session they were hittable and lots of fun.

Big thanks to Joe Sales for coming out to take pictures and to all the people involved in building and maintaining the jumps out there (Joey and others).

Days of Wayback

waking up every morning to some disappointing dark and wet weather led to me start hunting for some sweet pictures of past summer trips. found a few pictures from a road trip down to California in 2008. These were the days that I could pull off a few tricks and had some style and really makes me want to learn these things again.

Back when I could dirt jump with some style. Location at the post office jumps in aptos, CA

Cross Country in Squamish

I went to squamish the other weekend to meet up with Paul Sales so he could show me around some cross country trails at Mt. Garibaldi. We decided on doing Powerhouse Plunge.

Didn't know Squamish was home to incredible artists.

After a few nice hill climbs through the forest we reached the trailhead. It turns out XC can be fun which I was unsure about before.

The new trance was tons of fun on the descents but still a big change from a DH bike and took all of about 10 feet of riding before I could start having lots of fun.

Beauty weather!

Working for descents had it's rewards... or so I'm told...

Laughing at my facial expressions from pedaling uphill
was one of the rewards Paul was telling me about.

"It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival"

And it was all downhill from here (in a good way)

Had a nice flip over the bars here when my front wheel clipped the outside tree.

Thanks a ton to Paul Sales for taking all of the photos and showing me these awesome trails I had a lot of fun and am definitely looking forward to the next time I can go out riding again.

New Ride

Got a new cross country bike last week and its awsome. Working on setting it up how I like it by putting a shorter stem on and fiddling with the suspension. Here is a pic of it right when i got home fully stock. Have been ripping it up in the endownment lands for this past week and got a chance to head up to squamish to take it on some real trails.

Cypress Helmet Cam edit October 17 2010

Here's a little video i edited from last Sunday on various trails on Cypress mountain. Had a great time the bikes feel so good on the rooty loamy trails. Ben shuttled Aaron, Trevor and I all day. We managed to get 5 or 6 laps in and each of us had a few crashes. Really great ride to kick off the fall downhill riding season for me.

Enjoy

Hard day at the office

went for BMX ride at a local school with a friend. We were jibbing around, having fun, and decided to get a bit competitive, So, a game of H-O-R-S-E ensued. I took the lead scoring from a barspin and some motorhop lines. So soon enough Paul was only one letter away from losing. I went for the kill and set up to hop over a guardrail and as soon as I was squared up for the hop my bars went limp as cooked spaghetti. I slid to a stop and discovered that I had split open my bars and one end. Now, Paul asumed that the ride was over and said he won by default, I didn't agree. I put my left hand on the grip, and my right hand in the middle of the bars and did a little 180. Paul went for it, and dabbed (understatement).
